Android Things – Google’s new operating system for IoT
For those who do not know, Android Things is an Android-based operating system that, thanks to its SDK, will facilitate the creation of IoT devices, as well as integration with Google Assistant and Google Cast.
Optimized for low power consumption, this system will be compatible with the i.MX8M, Qualcomm SDA212, Qualcomm SDA624 and MediaTek MT8516 NXP modules, and will provide guaranteed support for three years. Also supported to Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and NXP i.MX7D, but limited only to prototypes.
In an effort to increase security on this type of device, the tech giant Google has ensured that security and stability updates have been released for three years.
The first devices that will support Android Things and integrate with Google Cast are already in production and will come from brands like LG, Lenovo and JBL, promising to mark their position in this market.
The tech giant Google has thus announced its official arrival in an area where it was slow to come up with solutions that will play a key role in the future of many brands.
